Scale: C phrygian
Description: The third mode of the major scale (1, ♭2, ♭3, 4, 5, ♭6, ♭7), characterised by its very small whole-tone span above the tonic. The flat 2nd gives an intense, 'Spanish' or Middle Eastern colour widely used in flamenco, metal riffs and modal classical passages.
