Dominant 13th Sharp 9th

Intervals (typical voicing): 1-3-5-b7-#9-13. This merges the blues-inflected #9 colour with the smooth 13 of a dominant 13th chord. It is common on V chords in funk, fusion and sophisticated blues where the harmony stays on a single dominant for a long time. Compared with a plain 7#9, adding 13 softens the aggression and gives the ear more consonant tones to latch onto. Scales such as altered, Mixolydian b9 b13 or hybrid blues/Mixolydian patterns all fit this sonority, depending on how outside you want to push.
